Coonawarra Wine, Australia
Katnook Estate
Katnook Estate lies 6 kilometres north of the Penola township, in the heart of Coonawarra. Its vineyards, planted in prime Terra Rossa soil, span 200 hectares. Katnook Estate's winemaking history stretches back to 1896, when Coonawarra's second vintage was made in the Katnook woolshed by Scottish immigrant John Riddoch. The woolshed still stands today and is now the barrel room.

Since 1980, Winemaker Wayne Stehbens has continuously crafted wines under the Katnook Estate and Riddoch labels. More recently, the Katnook family was extended to include Katnook Founders's Block and the iconic Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon and Katnook Prodigy Shiraz.

Katnook Estate has twice won the Jimmy Watson Trophy - for the 1997 Prodigy Shiraz and 1986 Riddoch Cabernet Shiraz. Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon has won three international trophies, gold medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards and is listed alongside Australia's finest in the "Outstanding" category in the prestigious Langton's Classification VI 2014.

Katnook Estate is open for tastings daily. Visitors are invited to discover for themselves what makes Katnook Estate special.

Opening Times: Mon-Fri 10am-5pm and Saturday & Sunday 12pm-5pm. Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day.
