Visiting Coonawarra
Coonawarra is located approximately 380kms south of Adelaide, 424kms west of Melbourne and only 10kms from the historic town of Penola. It resides in the Wattle Range Council area of the Limestone Coast of South Australia.
The region, first established in 1890, boasts many great cellar door sales outlets, fantastic food experiences and quality accommodation. A busy calendar of festivals, events and wine tastings create a colourful scene throughout the year in Coonawarra. It is recommended that you book your accommodation as early as possible if you are attending a Coonawarra event as places are often limited. 
By Car
Getting to Coonawarra is easy, whether it be by road or by air. Coonawarra is a comfortable four and a half hour drive from Melbourne and a four hour drive from Adelaide. For those with more time to enjoy a longer break, then why not consider the scenic route via the world renowned Great Ocean Road if coming from Melbourne, or via the spectacular Coorong National Park if coming from Adelaide.
By Air
The nearest airport to Coonawarra is located in Mt Gambier, a handy thirty minute drive south. Regional Express (REX) Airlines service Mt Gambier daily.
By Bus and/or train
Visitors can also make their way to Coonawarra using state bus services, Premier Stateliner. From Adelaide, there is a daily service to Penola/Coonawarra via Premier Stateliner Services.
Catch the train from Melbourne to Warrnambool and then you will be taken by bus through the port side villages of Port Fairy and Portland on to Mt Gambier.
